It was officially approved in 1587 by Pope Sixtux V, who suppressed all other Marian litanies used publicly. The Litany of Loreto is the only approved Marian litany. • It is the only approved Marian litany to be used publicly.
• On June 20, 2020 Pope Francis added three new invocations to the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary: Mother of Mercy, Mother of Hope, and Comforter of Migrants.
