History of Bushcraft
Bushcraft Indonesia – In a research (Doctoral thesis) in 2016, entitled Bushcraft and Indigenous Knowledge; transformations of a concept in the modern world, written by Lisa Fenton, the term bushcraft was not found in the Oxford English dictionary until 1871, but the use of the term Bushcraft began to be known during colonialism which refers to the way a person or group of people can survive as a result of changing places of residence due to participating in war or going to war zones whose territory is still foreign. This makes them need to have skills in surviving in the wild or bush. Others are due to shifting jobs and requiring a person to have skills in building houses, foraging and the arts of survival. And, this is where the term Bushcraft became known.

Bushcraft Primitives
Bushcraft Indonesia – The term bushcraft is attached to primitive society, this is because the behavior of bushcrafters and their works resemble civilizations that were born and existed since primitive times. This is characterized by techniques or procedures for survival in the wild and technological results created based on their ability to adapt to their environment, such as techniques for making fire using a fire plow, bowdrill; manufacture of hunting tools, animal traps, shelter models, purification techniques and ways to get (drinking) water, medical techniques, techniques for making objects from wood, and others.

There are many techniques from tribes around the world (now known as inland tribes or indigenous people), such as cooking activities using burning stones in Papua, techniques for making sharp weapons from stone by the Aborigines, Mentawai tribe healing techniques, use of cutlery and drinking wood carvings by traditional Scandinavian peoples, among many others.[1]

Some of the works of past civilizations that are used by modern humans at this time to carry out bushcraft activities, including:

Shelter (temporary living): lean-to, teepee, raised bed, A-frame, debris hut
Firecraft (make fire): bowdrill, fireplow, steel flint
Food procurement: traps, fishing rods, fishing hooks, deadfall, bird traps, snare, fish traps
Tinder: feather stick, birch bark, dry moss
Self defense (defense): spears, sling weapons, catapults
Nets for carrying luggage
Rope made of plant fibers
Versatile tool; such as cooking equipment on the fireplace, etc
