Note: Titanic had 16 sets of davits (a crane-like device) This gave the ship the ability to carry 64 life boats which would have been enough for 4000 people. With only 20 lifeboats Titanic actually had much more lifeboats than was legally required. The requirments by law would soon change after the desaster
