This is my longest video so far, and what a pleasure it is listening to Hugo Gamboias speaking about the Portuguese Guitar, the beautiful instrument used in Fado. He is a master, and in this video you'll learn about:
- his experience on building a guitar
- the different models of Portuguese Guitar (Coimbra, Lisbon, Porto)
- the types of wood and other materials used when building these guitars
- the most important names of Luthier and Guitarists from Portugal
- how the Portuguese guitar is tuned in Lisbon and in Coimbra
- the techniques of playing this guitar and the different nuances between Fado from Lisbon and from Coimbra
- Hugo Gamboia's projects and future shows
... and you'll hear him playing two songs from Carlos Paredes - prepare yourself to be blown away by his talent, because I personally couldn't help it!
