Costco Currently Does Not Carry Produce with the Apeel Food Coating

The major retail chain Costco has sold apples, avocados, and limes with the apeel food coating since 2018, but I have a major update for you. Costco currently does not source any produce with the apeel coating on it. This means that all 597 Costco stores across the United States do not carry any produce with Apeel. I got in touch with Costco’s produce department which informed me that there are no ongoing discussions about using Apeel again in the future. If there are, they will bring their food safety team into the conversation. I separately spoke to multiple customer service teams, and they were not aware yet because the change happened recently. I still strongly encourage you to go buy fruit, vegetables, and herbs directly from farmers. I do recognize that many of you shop at Costco, so it is important to know their sourcing shift. I plan to continue contacting as many retail chains as possible to understand whether they source produce with apeel or not. Comment which one I should speak to next!
