Kyiv Independent reporter Francis Farrell and videographer Olena Zashko spent a day with Ukrainian soldiers at infantry positions near Toretsk in Donetsk Oblast. They hold the last positions before no man's land: the gray zone between warring sides, where any movement makes you a target. Just 150 meters across the uneven ground, in positions that likely look very similar, are Russian soldiers.
