AirDrop is a P2P network made by Apple for use with their devices. The system allows you to send files to a friend or family member’s Apple device wirelessly through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connections. This makes it easy to transfer files without the need for other storage devices or email servers.
AirDrop works by connecting two Apple devices like iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and allowing them to transfer files quickly and easily. Through a temporary wireless connection, you can send photos, notes, and other files. These connections are encrypted to keep your files and information well-protected.
To activate AirDrop on an iOS device, access your control panel by sliding your finger upwards, starting at the very bottom of your screen. From the menu that appears, tap the AirDrop icon. Then select who you’d like to be able to receive files from through AirDrop – Everyone, or Contacts Only.
To activate AirDrop on Mac, start by clicking Go at the top left corner of your screen. From the drop-down menu, click on AirDrop. You’ll see the AirDrop window launch on your screen. Click Allow Me to Be Discovered By. Lastly, choose whether you want to share files with everyone or just your contacts.
To send something with AirDrop from an iOS device like an iPhone or iPad, first locate the file you would like to send. Then, tap the Share button. A menu will pop up at the bottom of your screen. Tap the name of the person you’d like to transfer the file to, then wait for the transfer to finish.
To send something with AirDrop from Mac, access the AirDrop window by clicking Go - AirDrop. Locate the file you want to send, then click on it and drag it over the name of the person you want to transfer it to. The recipient will receive a notification that you sent a file to them through AirDrop.
AirDrop Troubleshooting Tips:
1. Ensure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on both the sender’s and recipient’s devices.
2. Move the devices closer to each other to make sure they’re within the range for wireless connection.
3. Check that you are both on each other’s contacts lists.
4. Make sure the recipient’s device is not asleep or in airplane mode. The devices need to both be “awake” with unlocked screens.
5. Ensure the recipient has enough space on their device to store the file you’re trying to transfer. Delete some files from the device to make more space.
