The discussion included the early and ongoing awareness of the extent to which family process is central to the functioning of its members. This is especially demonstrated when a symptom emerges in a family. The shift which can occur is remarkable when anxiety begins to abate and one or more members begin to recognize what they can do to effect change.
The Bowen Center is a non for profit dedicated to the development of Bowen family systems theory into a science of human behavior; to assist individuals, families, communities, and organizations in addressing major life changes through understanding and improvising human relationships.
The center carries out its mission locally, nationally, and internationally through training and online programs, conferences, research, clinical services, and its website and publications. The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family is an educational, research, and clinical center incorporated as a 501©(3) tax-exempt organization in the District of Columbia.
