Dr. Joseph Sang-Il Kwon is an Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering and the Kenneth R. Hall Career Development Professor at Texas A&M University. Prof. Kwon earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from UCLA, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and dual B.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering and Mathematics from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. His research is at the forefront of advanced methodologies, including multiscale modeling, digital twins, hybrid modeling, sparse model identification, and fault prognosis. He applies these methodologies to diverse industries, such as pulp and paper, oil and gas, electrochemical, and pharmaceuticals. Prof. Kwon has received numerous accolades, including the 2021 Hanwha Non-Tenure Faculty Award, multiple Engineering Genesis Awards, and the TEES Young Faculty Fellow Award. His contributions to multidisciplinary research and education are widely recognized.
