Anomie
The term is commonly indicates normlessness.

French sociologist Émile Durkheim  used this term in his influential book Suicide (1897).

Instability, break down of social standards and values or from a lack of purpose or ideals

anomie arises generally from a mismatch between personal or group standards and wider social standards
From the lack of a social ethic  which produces moral deregulation and an absence of legitimate aspirations.

Striving is considered useless because there is no accepted definition of what is desirable

Alienation:
A condition in social relation ship by a low degree of integration or common values and a high degree of distance or isolation between individuals and a group of people in a community or work environment.
