Artie Shaw & His Orchestra
Artie Shaw & His Orchestra perform 'In the Mood' in 1938. The story of Artie's connection to this song is a little convoluted. Apparently Joe Garland sold the tune to Artie Shaw who chose not to record the song because the original arrangement was too long, but Shaw did perform it in concert. In 1939 the song was sold to Glenn Miller who turned it into a big hit during World War II.
