The Comet tank (34) was a British
Cruiser tank that was
designed as an improvement
on the earlier Cromwell tank.
and first saw use near
the end of WWII and was
widely respected as one of
the best British tanks on the war.

It was designed to be mounting
the new 77mm HV gun in a
new lower profile
and part-cast turret.

This gun was effective against
late war German tanks,
including the Panther
at medium range.

This Comet was made at the
Leyland Motors, Farington, Lancashire,
North West England, Britain
it has no combat history and it's not
known when and how it ended up in
the Saumur Tank Museum.
