This is a short video showing the greatest hockey player of all time, Bobby Orr of the Boston Bruins, ragging the puck.
The first clip is from a CBC broadcast, with Bill Hewitt doing play by play. The rest are from WSBK TV-38 in Boston, with Don Earle on the calls.
Orr, the two-time Stanley Cup winning Hall of Fame defenseman, used his unmatched skating, scoring, and playmaking to revolutionize the position. His fluid-yet-powerful strides and deft moves, learned as a youngster during outdoor games in winters on Parry Sound in Ontario, enabled him to make thrilling rushes end-to-end as a pro. And when needed, he could become a one-man penalty kill or run out the clock at game's end.
In this video he plays keep-away from the Maple Leafs, Penguins, Golden Seals, Rangers, and Blackhawks, demonstrating more speed and skill than all the other players - fine skaters themselves.
What a pleasure it was indeed for Bostonians at that time to "look at him go!", as Earle said, each fan glad they were there to witness it.
(Sorry to keep updating, but every new clip I find is gold, Jerry, gold!)
