Alcohol ink - minimalist art.
Finished this minimalistic commission. Client wanted 2 small pieces made with alcohol ink - black and white and some brass, very simple and elegant with some negative space.
Creating minimalist art can sometimes be one of the most difficult things to do.
How much is to much….. ?
When is it not enough….. ?
Most of the time when being creative and painting, we have to stop ourselves from overdoing it - and remind ourselves that sometimes less is more.
Alcohol ink fades is one of my favorite things to do. I just love the wispy look especially when you add some metallic. There are many different techniques you can use to create these fades, but the one I use in this video is my absolute favorite.
So I did these pieces with just 3 fades on each and some beautiful brass.
The black ink creates so many different shades of grey which really makes the whole thing come together.
I'm really happy with how these turned out and luckily my client loves them.
Just need to varnish them and then they are off to live in their new home.
I hope you enjoy this video and maybe feel inspired to try something like this yourself.
I did these on Nara paper and I use Copic black, Piñata brass and isopropyl alcohol.
