The FN M249S is the semi-auto version of the legendary M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) light machine gun. The original M249 was developed through an Army-led effort and adopted by infantry squads in the mid-1980s. A decade later US Armed Forces commenced using the weapon system and have used it in every major conflict since.
