Since the end of 2021, a Wirtgen Surface Miner 280 SMi has been in operation and showcasing its versatility in the selective mining of limestone and oil shale. In the video, we offer you insight into the practical work of the surface miner.
We show you its cutting depth of 650 mm, side loading, how it handles rock hardness of up to 120 MPa, its small approx. 9 m turning radius, flexible loading process and more. A significant advantage of the 280 SMi is that it already breaks down the material to the required size during cutting. This eliminates the need for additional crushing and screening so that the material can be used directly for further processing.
