Lately I've been loving the Platinum 3776 Century ( https://amzn.to/2G6TqUW ). This is a great pen that is an exceptional value. I bought it for about $72 in Chartres Blue in Broad. The pen has a 14K gold nib and is one of the best entry level gold nib pens I've ever used.

As for the nib, it's not the best gold nib pen by any measure, but it's a good value. The nib isn't as smooth as other gold nibs like the Lamy 2000 ( https://amzn.to/2My4Su4 ) but it's better than most 14K gold nibs in the price range.
Go to 8:02 to see a writing sample. I bought this fountain pen in a broad nib because the 3776 line writes very thin. I like the broad a lot and think it's the right choice is you are looking for a European medium. I did a writing comparison vs a Lamy medium nib as well as a Lamy broad, which is much broader and wetter than the Platinum broad. Platinum does sell a "coarse" nib ( https://amzn.to/2SeWLYU ) but it's a bit harder to fine and it looks wetter than I needed. Coarse is Platinum's double broad equivalent.
