Miradouro de Santo Antão da Barca | Alfãndega da Fé | Portugal

A brief note on one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the municipality of Alfândega da Fé in Trás-os-Montes. It is the sanctuary of Santo Antão da Barca, which is located next to the so-called Lago dos Santuários. Since 2016, Lagos do Sabor has been a new itinerary in Portugal. It was at that time that the Cilhades, Sanctuaries and Medal Lakes appeared, due to the construction of the new Baixo Sabor Dam. The Lagos do Sabor are made up of a navigable reservoir of about 70 kilometers.
Taking the scenic IC5 road, we leave after Alfândega da Fé on the left towards Sardão and from there, taking a road for about 7 km, we arrive at the Sanctuary.
The hermit Santo Antão is the object of devotion of thousands of people who, every year, in September, flock to the sanctuary located in a deep valley, next to the Sabor river, flanked by steep banks, territory of three different municipalities.
