Smith Corona Skyriter Typewriter (1953)

Here is a short typing video for this wonderful Skyriter.

This typewriter has been professionally serviced, fully adjusted, and cleaned to fully working order. There are a few honest marks from usage where the case firmly holds onto it, which are very typical for Skyriters, and the case has a few marks around. There are also a few minor scratches on the keys which are not easily visible, typically caused from users with longer fingernails. Regardless it’s all working well mechanically and has new ribbons installed.

Note: This typewriter also still bears a label from an earlier servicing which can be seen from the back.

The Skyriter is one of the most well known ultraportable typewriters during its time, and still is to many collectors and writers. Having features not seen in many ultraportables such as a margin release, and a touch control, this typewriter was surely a huge hit to many typewriter users, especially to authors and journalists who travel a lot.

Famous users include Benigno Aquino whose Skyriter is featured in the Philippine 500 peso note, and Ingrid Bergman, the Swedish actress who starred in films such as Casablanca and Gaslight.
