City of Troy, NY Third Alarm Structure Fire Valley View Apartments

City of Troy: Third Alarm Structure Fire Valley Green Apartment Complex at 25 Morrison Avenue. Engine three had heavy smoke visible from Campbell Avenue as they pulled out of the station. Conditions on arrival were very hectic as they had multiple people evacuating from the building. Firefighters immediately transmitted the signal 30 and the second alarm

Within minutes while firefighters were making a search of the inside of the structure for the apartment that was on fire conditions changed rapidly.  Firefighters had heavy fire throughout the cockloft of structure. While command ordered the evacuation of the building firefighters heard a woman scream for help and ran to help along and a rescue was performed of a person trapped in their apartment. Firefighters also rescued a cat in the rear of the building and administered oxygen to the pet. The cat became responsive and was transported by the owner to the nearest emergency vet clinic.

Fire Departments from the City of Troy, Watervliet, Albany, Green Island, Cohoes, and the Watervliet Arsenal responded to the scene. Medical rigs from the City of Troy and Mohawk Ambulance Service arrived on scene and assisted evaluating individuals from the fire scene including the furry friends. At this time the fire is under investigation.
