This video guides about how to fix I/O error. I/O Device error mostly appear in external hard drive.

The error the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error occurs due to some physical problem.

Its a physical problem either with your hard drive, sata to usb connector or usb cable.

What is an i/o device error?

I/O device error is an issue that stops Windows from reading or writing content on hard drive. As a result error message pop ups that the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error  or location is not available.

There are four fixes for this I/O Error

1. Connecting you external hard drive to another usb port in same or different computer can fix this I/O device error.

2. Checking Sata to USB adapter and if needed changing this adapter can solve hard drive i/o error.

3. Outdating drivers for USB device can cause i/o error so updating drivers will solve the error.

4. This option involves thorough scanning and fixing of any errors in your hard drive by using Windows 10 Check Disk utility.
