Dividing lines: Phoenix at epicentre of looting, racial tensions and violence in KZN

Residents in Phoenix, north of Durban, took up arms to protect their families and community after a spate of violence and looting gripped large parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. Fake news, vigilantism and a lack of police presence stoked the fires racial tensions in Phoenix where at least twenty people were killed during the violence.
