In this video, I share my experience with the F1 visa interview at the US consulate in Bombay. It's a detailed walkthrough, including the entire timeline, tips I picked up along the way.

The whole process took about two hours, with most of that time spent waiting in line. The actual interview itself was short, just two or three minutes. My biggest takeaways are to be confident and prepared to talk about your education, finances, and background.

There are some extra things to keep in mind too. First, definitely don't bring any electronics, cologne, or anything scented with you.

One thing I heard from others waiting was to be extra prepared if you get assigned to the counter with the Chinese officer. They said he's known for being a bit stricter. Luckily, I didn't get him, but for peace of mind, I'd say be ready for anything.

In the end, I got approved even though I had a gap year between my bachelor's degree and the interview. I explained that I was working as a software developer during that time, which seemed to help.

So, that's my F1 visa interview experience in a nutshell. Hopefully, it helps you feel more prepared for yours!
