Here is a 2-hour close-up visual inspection of Yangshan Quarry in China from September 2024 using a camera-stabilizing gimbal, showing close-up tool marks and exposed stone.
After further inspection and discussion with @Throku in the comments, I think the stone is in fact mirror-black, and reflects the blue sky. There does seem to be parts with purple-blue tints. Could it be something between Obsidian and Sodalite (being the blue part of the stone Lapis Lazuli)? If anyone knows what stone this is, please comment below.
