Has Computer Science Education Gotten Worse?

I studied computer science back in 2003. Since then, we've seen the rise of coding bootcamps that churn out web developers faster than my german shepherd can take a dump.

Most online content is of poor quality and very beginner oriented. The tone has shifted from descriptive to prescriptive, as people prefer to repeat the same tired dogmas instead of exploring the subject matter more deeply.

But has this phenomenon bled into computer science curriculum at the university level? How have college courses changed, if at all?

In this video, I try to remember as much as I can about my computer science education from twenty years ago. I take a look at the same program currently being offered at my alma mater, the University of Colorado at Boulder. What changed? How do the course descriptions compare to what I remember?

Has computer science education actually gotten worse, or are we viewing the past through rose colored glasses?
