How To Clean Cats Ears

Our in-house vet-tech, Johanna, shows pet parents how they can easily clean a cat's ears.

If your cat is prone to waxy buildup in his ears, you may need to clean them. Echo Gold is natural, gentle ear cleaner which can help to reduce debris, itchiness, and inflammation. To clean your cat’s ears, apply a small amount of Echo Gold to a cotton or gauze pad. Gently wipe away debris from the ear. Apply a few drops of Echo Gold to a cotton swab and use it to clean all of the creases or folds in the ear. Do not insert the cotton swab deep into the ear, as this can push debris down into the ear towards the ear drum. Only clean the superficial folds of the ear, about a ¼ inch into the ear. Once the debris is cleaned from the ear, apply a small amount of Echo Gold to a clean cotton pad and wipe the ear again to remove any remaining debris. If the debris is quite heavy, you can instill a couple drops of Echo Gold into the ear to help loosen the debris further in the ear canal. Most cats don’t need their ears cleaned very often, however if your cat has discoloured or a large amount of debris, the ears should be cleaned a few times weekly.
