Now, when your toddler has grown up to an age where baby proofing is no longer necessary, it's time to remove these child safety locks that have served you so well.
One of the main concerns of these adhesive safety locks is the worry of the paint coming off the furniture during the removal. This is especially true for parents who have a set of furniture that they really love which may have been passed down from a generation before.
The Baby Lodge Baby Safety Locks come with 3M adhesives, which are designed to be removed cleanly without leaving any marks.
NOTE: DO NOT try to pry the locks off using sharp objects. Just follow the instructions and you'll do great, as if you never had the locks on before.
Step 1: Use a hair dryer, and direct the hot air around the adhesive. It is advisable to focus on one at a time. Heat the area for 5-8 minutes. It may take longer, if the locks have been attached for a longer period of time. Or it may be sooner depending the settings of your hair dryer.
Step 2: You should notice that the adhesives have somehow loosen a little (You can wriggle the lock to test). Start pulling off the mount using the tip of your fingers, starting from the edge. You can use a pointed, but blunt object such as a butterknife to help. A ruler will do great too.
Step 3: Carefully and slowly, pull the mount off. You should have the adhesive foam removed cleanly by now.
Step 4: Repeat for the other end of the lock.
Step 5: If there's still residual adhesives, you can continue heating the area, and roll it off with your finger. Alternatively, use a warm soapy soft cloth and wipe the surface.
After which, you are ready to embark on your new challenges of parenting a young child, who's not a toddler anymore!
