How to Measure and Cut Siding Near the Roof Line – Honey Hut
In this video I review the basic approach to measure and cut siding boards or panels to get the same angel as the roof line. The honey hut doesn’t have an exact 4/12 pitch therefore I show how to measure the area of siding to get an exact fit. I’m using 4x8 sheets of T1-11 siding boards in this video. The pitch of this roof ended up being 4.1875/12 meaning that for every 4 feet of run there is a 16 ¾ inch rise in elevation.
We call this structure the Honey Hut. It will be a more than just a winter shelter for the honeybees. In the future we plan to have continuous monitoring of the hives collecting data on the hives throughout the year. I also hope to create an observation hive with internal cameras and sensors.
