Langkofel ( Italian: Sassolungo ,
Langkofel ( Italian: Sassolungo , Latin: Saslonch - in all three languages the name means "Long stone/rock" - at 3,181 m above sea level , the highest among the mountain peaks of the massif located in the Dolomites in the Trentino-Alto Adige region Langkofelgruppe .
On August 13, 1869, the first ascent to the peak took place. It was achieved by the Austrian alpinist Paul Grohmann together with Franz Innerkofler and Peter Salcher .
