Abbotsbury Subtropical gardens is a 25 acre paradise nestled into an ancient woodland on Dorsets world heritage site, the Jurassic Coast. The gardens are home to a host of tropical and exotic plants that thrive in the uniquely warm microclimate. Originating in 1765, Abbotsbury gardens started life as a 1 acre walled kitchen garden for a Manor House that was built near the beach. Over the past 250 years the gardens have evolved into a subtropical paradise with plants being added from locations all around the worlds. Tropical and exotic plants thrive here as the subtropical garden very rarely see's frost, even if nearby towns experience freezing temperatures.
On this sunny Saturday afternoon, join me as I walk around the gardens and share some of my favourite tropical and exotic plants. Hopefully the tropical garden with give you garden ideas for your own patch of paradise!
