It is very difficult to understand how much a specific repair job on your property actually costs. I'm talking about any job in you home/property, not just roof work here. Even if you have had a chimney removed before in the past -

How do you know you paid under the market price, over the market price, or a fair price at that time?

How do you know the rate of price increase since?


Have you calculated the material cost?

Do you know the difference of inferior and superior products?

Have you calculated the wastage cost?

Have you calculate the mean time in carrying out the task? By that I mean assuming the tradesperson is highly skilled, some move snails pace, some move fast. Speed is irrelevant, unless terms on time were agreed a point of contract. If you don't know the mean time (and how could you) then how can you assess a tradepersons overall productivity?

Have you considered other variables such as property location and access, both while on site and getting to it?

I started vlogging for two reasons. My life consists of training, which is always incorporated into my travelling and work. The latter being property refurbishments and property management. I just feel if I had someone doing what I'm doing now, all those years ago when I started doing houses up, it would have made my life so much easier. I guess I'm just playing it forward.
