Marine Spatial Planning - For a Sustainable Governance of the Ocean

How can countries implement a strategic and integrated management approach to regulate and reduce human impacts on the ocean?

Over the past 15 years, Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) has gained considerable importance all around the world. As one of the leading MSP institutions worldwide, UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission has partnered with the European Commission's Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries to promote MSP as an effective process for a global and sustainable governance of marine areas, through their Joint Roadmap to accelerate MSP processes and MSPglobal Initiative.
