Why is read aloud important?
"The U.S. Department of Education Commission on Reading took into account over 10,000 studies and found that the most important activity for building the skills and background for eventual success in reading is reading aloud to children."
At Mr. Corder’s Kid Books Read Aloud, I try and find the most exciting and interesting books for kids. Reading is one of the most important skills for children in preschool, kindergarten, first and second grade to develop (and in the higher grades of course). Read Aloud kids books are just another way to help students develop this love for reading!
I specialize in nonfiction books for kids, because they are rich in vocabulary and have engaging, real pictures for students to see! Nonfiction read aloud is a vital piece to any language arts curriculum! Be sure to check out my other non fiction read alouds for 1st grade, kindergarten, second grade and all grades!

All About Winter, a non-fiction book about winter!
Winter is one of 4 seasons. It comes after fall and before spring.
The coldest temperatures of the year happen in winter. We usually have less sunlight and more cold weather!
Most trees lose their leaves in winter, but some specials ones keep their leaves all year! They are called evergreen trees.
Some animals, such as bears and hedgehogs, hibernate in the winter. This means that they stay inside and rest most of winter!
It sometimes snows during winter! You can build a snowman, go sledding or have a snowball fight!
During the winter we also celebrate a lot of holidays like Christmas, New Years and Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
