The Easy Way To Play F on Guitar For Beginners - Without Barre Chords!

Hey everybody! In today's lesson
Hey everybody! In today's lesson I'm going to show you the easy way to play the F chord on guitar with no barre (that will also help prepare you to eventually play the full F barre chord!) This is a great way for beginners to play easy songs that use F.
Get the best of both worlds! Be able to play your favourite tunes right away and still be preparing for bar chords in the future!

When getting started, you’re bound to run into a song that uses F… you look it up, and it’s this crazy barre chord!
That’s probably too much for a beginner. It’s always good to try, but at that point your practice time might be better spent working on your rhythm, your ear. But you still want to learn that song...
Rather than put that song on the backburner, we can do something much easier to play:
I call it the "4-Finger Grip" or Easy F Chord!
If you compare it to the barre chord, it actually has the same 4 notes on the middle 4 strings… we’re just missing the outside strings. And if you mute those outside strings, you can drag this shape up and down the fretboard and use it exactly like a barre chord - so you can play sharp and flat chords (like Bb, Ab and G#) really early on!
And because 3 of your fingers are in the same spot on both the easy F, and the F barre chord, it’s a good transition to the real F barre chord.
Also, since it’s so similar to the real F barre chord, a lot of the switching tricks that you would use for the F barre chord will work:
Going from F to C, F to Dm and F to Am.
