You are taking a survey that asks you questions about how much you like your job, but in the midst of the questions is an item that asks you about how much you dislike your job. It is the opposite of the other questions. That is called a reverse-worded question, and in IBM SPSS Statistics software, that kind of question needs to be reverse scored before you can use it. Using the Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS), created by Dr. Paul Spector, we learn three techniques for reverse scoring items. Each technique has advantages and drawbacks, so one of them will work for you and your data. This video is the full version that explores all three techniques. I also have a short video that explains the most commonly used technique only.

This video teaches the following commands and techniques:
Recode into Different Variable
Recode into Same Variable
Old and New Values
Compute Variable
Syntax
