While this channel is focused
While this channel is focused on synths that are often regarded unpopular (if you are being polite - crap would be a more accurate word for some people) every once in a while I also feature more popular machines because I feel people don’t appreciate them enough or seemed to have forgotten way too quickly (Volcas anyone?).
Today’s synth clearly is one of the latter kind and while I wasn’t really able to find any actual sales figures for the Neutron, I’m pretty sure, it has sold quite well (and still does, both Sweetwater’s and Thomann’s sites suggest it’s a best seller).
So what is so special about this synth, apart from the fact that it’s a very rare non clone by Behringer? Well, here’s my personal top 3:
3. It’s not just a synth but also an interesting way to process external audio in many interesting ways.
3. The Neutron is a great educational tool to learn about how (modular) subtractive synthesis works. Thanks to all it’s knobs and the patch bay, it’s as hands on as learning can get.
1. Even when bought at full price, it’s still more affordable than most empty basic modular cases (without any modules at all).
