Speaking of the Tunga River
The Tunga River is a river that flows only through the state of Karnataka. The river originates on the hill known as Varaha Parvat at Gangamoola in the Western Ghats. From here, the river flows through two districts of Chikmagalur and Shimoga in Karnataka - the 147 km long river which joins the Bhadra River at Koodli, a small town near Shimoga City in Karnataka. From this time onwards, the river got its collective name Tungabhadra. The Tungabhadra flows eastwards and merges with the Krishna River in Andhra Pradesh. A dam has been constructed across the river at Gajanur and a large dam has been constructed at Hospet across the river Tungabhadra. The river is flowing in the opposite direction to us.
