USA: COMPENSATION PAID TO IRAN OVER SHOOTING DOWN OF AIRLINER

English/Nat The United States has paid more than 130 (m) million dollars in compensation for shooting down an Iranian airliner in 1988, killing all 290 people aboard. The U-S administration says the shooting was a mistake but many Iranian officials believe it was deliberate. The State Department has announced that a financial settlement has been reached compensating the relatives of the Iranian victims.
