The incredible effects of Helium in Stirling Engines

In professional stirling engines often helium is used as working gas. This little demonstration shows why. I use a manson engine which is not closed so the working gas can be exchanged on the fly. It is a two cylinder engine, but one cylinder was disabled by disconnecting the conrod. The white displacer piston is made of PTFE (aka teflon) but it became too hot for it so I replaced it later with a glas displacer piston as in the other cylinder.
