Science Students Build Wind Turbines

Juniors and Seniors in Honors Environmental Science built and tested wind turbines powered by hair dryer “wind” energy. Plastic cups containing 30 paper clips and attached to the windmills were lifted by the turning blades. A competition to determine which turbine could lift the cup the fastest was held and the red plastic cup wind turbine won. The project culminates a unit on Renewable Energy sources.
