The Russian president complains of the Wests continued blame game against his country, warning that Moscow will respond in a harsh way to provocations. Speaking in an annual state-of-the-nation speech to top officials and lawmakers, Vladimir Putin said Moscow hoped no foreign state would cross its red lines. Russia's ties with the West have deteriorated to near Cold War lows, after the new US administration of President Joe Biden signaled a more confrontational approach. Moscow and some Western countries are at loggerheads over jailed Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, Ukraines conflict, and a series of cyber attacks and espionage scandals. Moscow has also seen its diplomats expelled from some countries while some other western powers, including the US have hit Russia with new sanctions.
