RoboBird Ornithopter Mechanical Bird Wings - University of Southampton 3rd Year Dissertation 2013/14

Video of my 3rd year dissertation project mounted in the wind tunnel for testing. Abstract: The RoboBird project sets out to design and build a set of biologically inspired mechanical wings for an ornithopter. The aerodynamics and kinematics of real bird flight is first considered, then a mechanism is designed to realistically recreate the movement of bird wings. The design implements electronics to mimic the muscle movements of birds during flight, creating thrust by manipulation of airflow over the wings
