Spinal Compression Fracture

Occurring most often in the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae, a spinal compression fracture occurs when the vertebra collapses. This often causes acute back pain, a stooped posture, and difficulty moving. If the fractured vertebra leads to compression of a nerve, pain may also be experienced radiating downwards into the extremities.
