Iranians in ancient times were the first people who, out of respect and gratitude for the elderly, set a special day in the year to commemorate the elderly, and this day was on the 25th of Shahrivar every year, and its antiquity reaches three thousand years. At that time and until 14 centuries ago, the days of each Iranian month were called by a special name, and the 25th day of Shahrivar was called "Ashish vangh", which was the day of God's forgiveness, Minesh character and pure soul. The month of Shahrivar was called "Shehrevar". After the end of the Sasanian rule, because it was customary to kiss the hands of the elders of the family on Nowruz days, this ritual became special for Nowruz, and gradually the day of the elderly (25 Shahrivar) faded and was forgotten in Iran. But other countries have revived it since the 20th century, which is known as "Senior Day" in English-speaking countries. The first general penal law of Iran made it a crime for children not to pay attention to their elderly parents, which was punishable by the degree of misdemeanor. It should be noted that since two decades ago, attention to the elderly and retirees has become significant around the world. In 1720 AD, Jamasb Velayati, who was the "Zoroastrian Order" of Kerman, went to Bombay to write the history of "The Day of the Elderly in Iran" with other Indian Persian researchers and bring it to life, which was later completed by Minocher Homji, one of the Persians of Bombay, India. The Japanese celebrate September 15 (24 Shahrivarmah) as the day of the elderly, which is not believed to be related to the ancient day of the elderly in Iran. International Day of Older Persons is observed every year on 1st October. This day is celebrated in order create awareness about the problems that impact elders and to do something for their welfare. It is all about telling the young generation to respect their elders because they contribute a lot to the society. Celebrate International Day for Older
