متن درس: Goldfish Orphanage Once upon a time there were two birds that were cousins. The male bird’s name was Kris and the female bird’s name was Karen: they were both cardinals. His feathers were bright red and her feathers were brown/gray/green with red highlights. They were 4th cousins. Kris and Karen were concerned about all the homeless and orphan goldfish in Embree County, North Carolina. There were 697 orphans and 12.2 homeless goldfish. The .2 was just a pair of eyes. The numbers of homeless and orphan goldfish were growing every day- it was a goldfish emergency! Kris and Karen decided to build a goldfish orphanage and homeless shelter for all the many goldfish in need in the county. They went to the library to read about construction and blueprints for goldfish orphanages. After the library, they went to meet former U.S. president Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn. They rode their mountain bikes to the Carter Library and Diplomatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia. They rode bikes because it was too far to fly. The Carters were experts in the field of human and goldfish homelessness, so Kris and Karen went to get advice on best-practices in running a goldfish orphanage. The Carters had many good ideas and told Kris and Karen to get an Emergency Goldfish Grant from the State of North Carolina to pay for construction of the orphanage. After the meeting, the Carters served an extraordinary gourmet meal of acorn-loaf salad with peanut pie for desert. Also, they drank 9.02 kegs of “Billy Beer” given as a gift from the President’s brother. So delicious!The Carters were honored to meet with Kris and Karen so they bought them high-speed train tickets to return to North Carolina. When Kris and Karen returned, they applied for and received an Emergency Goldfish Grant to pay for the orphanage. They hired some friends (birds) who were juncos and brown thrashers to dig the orphanage pond for the goldfish. ...
