Cathodic Protection Maintenance

Cathodically protected pipelines are monitored on an annual basis to verify that the cathodic protection system is functioning properly. Above ground piping is inspected for corrosion at least once every three years. Cathodic protection is a technology that uses direct electrical current to counteract any external corrosion of a metal pipeline. External corrosion of pipelines is controlled by coating all pipelines and also by utilizing the cathodic protection process.
