Unemployment central to Iran election The choice for Iran’s presidential election on May 19 comes down to four men, two of whom are the front runners. Current President Hassan Rouhani – of the Reformists bloc - is facing off against Ebrahim Raisi - a Principalist. Unemployment in Iran stands at about 13 percent, while nearly a third of young people have no job - and that has become a focal point in the election.
