Turkey hands down verdicts in Ergenekon case

A Turkish court has handed down verdicts for 275 people in the five-year trial of the Ergenekon case. One of the defendants was given a life sentence and a number of others received jail terms, from six to over 100 years. The defendants, including top generals, academics, politicians and journalists, were accused of staging a coup to overthrow the government.
