Relative compression testing using an automotive oscilloscope

For many years mechanics have been using labscopes and current clamps to view relative compression during engine cranking. A PicoScope oscilloscope when used with PicoDiagnostics software to improve on this test by eliminating the need for a current clamp and displaying the resuts in an easy to understand bar graph. For more in depth diagnosis you can connect a pressure sensor to one cylinder, the software then uses this as a cylinder ID and calculates the actual pressure (BAR or PSI) for each cylinder
