KMI Zeolite Exothermic Reaction Experiment

Zeolite is a naturally occurring mineral that is extremely absorbent due to its lattice shaped molecular structure. This unique structure has so many microscopic cavities that each lb of zeolite can boast up to 10 million square feet of surface area. In this experiment we poured zeolite powder into a bowl of cold water. The zeolite becomes immediately saturated and sinks to the bottom. Notice the smoke as the water is absorbed and heat energy is released in a sudden exothermic reaction.
